TBEC launches Advisory Services, Programs and Activities for Business

The Tonga Business Enterprise Centre (TBEC) is now well and truly open for business and now adopting its Tongan name Senita Fale'i ki he Ngaahi Pisinisi 'o Tonga. TBEC is already working with individual business owners to develop strategies and actions to assist their business growth. TBEC also manages a number of services which are made available to help Tongan businesses improve their business outcomes. These services are available right now and include the following.

Pacific Business Mentors Programme  (NOW Looking for more businesses to participate in the MAY program)

Business Mentors (advisors) from New Zealand will be available to help Tongan businesses identify key opportunities to build their businesses. This access to some of New Zealand’s best business minds is an invaluable opportunity for the right business. The PBMP will be in Tonga in May and applications are now open for a VERY limited time to have these professionals working with you in your business. This year TBEC has requested the program to be available in Vava’u where up to 8 businesses may have an opportunity to work with the advisors.

Business Development Fund

The PIPSO funded Business Development Fund (BDF) is a grant scheme to assist Pacific Island businesses to increase their business independence and sustainability through short-term training attachments and advisory services. The BDF grants are offered on a cost sharing basis. The maximum grant offered under the various categories is FJD$5,000 per company per year. There are various categories available under this fund including Market Research, Exploration Visits, Exhibition/Conference Participation, Promotional Material; and Business Development and Capacity Building and Training for Employees.

Pathways for Better Financial Packages Program

A Pacific Island Trade and Invest funded program which works with individual businesses to develop financial documents to support bank applications for business loans to expand their operations. The Pathways for Better Financial Packages Program provides access to a qualified accounting organisation to assist in;

• testing and developing proposals to financial institutions
• identifying capacity to source financing for proposed business expansion
• identifying an organizations capacity to manage expanded liabilities
• developing strong business cases to financial institutions to increase opportunity to access finance
